Self-care over-care

A video work exploring the concept of over-caring, and the word ‘care’ becoming something negative and a coping mechanism, explored in a humorous way, following a guide of to-do’s that are unachievable.

Taking the word ‘care’ and turning it on it’s head, I wondered how and if, such an act could become negative, what happens when we over-care? This can take the form of serious health issues like OCD, and in the current climate of covid, people have become somewhat overly paranoid of germs. When does an act stop being beneficial and start becoming a problem? In the video I normalize the behavior by overplaying commercial-like music to give it a humorous element, making it all the more ridiculous.
