She studied dramatic writing at NYU Tisch before moving to Sheffield and completing a PGCE at Bretton Hall in Drama education. A former drama teacher and head of PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economics Education), Chella coined the phrase \u2018period positive\u2019 in 2006 and founded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.periodpositive.com\/\">#periodpositive<\/a> to use humour and joy to challenge menstrual taboos and find long-term solutions to period poverty. In 2019, she launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/periodpositive.com\/the-period-positive-pledge\/\">Period Positive Pledge<\/a> as a framework for developing menstruation-inclusive policy and outreach.
