Alison has worked in Social Services, for the Citizens Advice service and the Church. In 2010 she came to work for a local Charity, running ReadiFood, Reading’s Foodbank. ReadiFood is an independent foodbank run by Faith Christian Group. ReadiFood has provided an Emergency Food Parcel Service in Reading for over 25 years. Currently, we deliver 160 – 200 Emergency Food Parcels every week to families and individuals across the greater Reading area. We deliver either directly to homes or via local agencies.

In the past 10 years, there have been many changes to the welfare state and this has led to many needing to turn to foodbanks for help. Food insecurity has become an increasing and concerning issue in our communities. As society plans a recovery out of the most recent upheaval, the Covid19 Pandemic, Alison hopes for more emphasis to be put on systemic changes, to prevent people from falling into poverty and deprivation
